When we first moved to the
A Rocha Canada Field Study Centre in 2007, talks began about a 20 acre site donation from a long-time friend of A Rocha. It has been almost 3 years in the works, and the move has already begun to the new site, Brooksdale, in South Surrey (the corner of 16th Ave and 192nd Street). The old site, where we lived for two years, has been sold. Thankfully, it has been sold to a group of families which include A Rocha employees and volunteers, meaning work will continue on the old site and all of our work wasn't in vain (ie. it wasn't bought by a developer)! The final event at the old site will be this Saturday:
The Harvest Festival. We'll be there to celebrate the site, especially God's provision and abundance! We will also say good-bye to our old home (although we plan to visit the new owners still!). This was the place where we brought Claire home. Where we hosted our first family Christmas. Where we learned about
living sustainably. Where we learned in a very tangible way, how to trust God (especially as we raised our whole wage....). Click
here to see the archived announcement from when we left A Rocha.
If you're around, join us for the event!
Time: 10-12 Volunteer Day, 1-4 Harvest Festival (folk dance, apple press, children's activities, hay ride, etc.)
Where:
512 172nd Street, Surrey BC
What to bring: Your own lunch and a harvest goodie to share in the afternoon. Also some $! The Rivertree Store will be open featuring local, sustainable artisan products. Pumpkins, squash, and garlic braids might be on sale too!
If you plan on coming, RSVP to british.columbia@arocha.org.

I love that last picture of Aida. She looks like such a farm girl. She has grown so much since then.

Hey, I'm sad I didn't make it to this - I was sick and I also had to buy a car! (wrote mine off in an accident a few weeks ago).
Hope to see you soon!
